“Our city is on the front lines. For example, the subway serves as a shelter. How can we collect fees from people who are taking refuge there during air raid alerts? How can we collect fees from Kharkiv residents who are commuting to work on public transportation while under fire? We need to do everything we can for the people so that they stay in the city,” said Ihor Terekhov.
The mayor emphasized that a balanced state policy is necessary to ensure mechanisms for supporting the population. According to him, it is important to create incentives to keep people in frontline communities.
“We need to keep people from leaving their homes. This is a huge challenge. How can we incentivize utility workers, doctors, teachers, and social workers? What kind of incentive system should the state have? This is our area of responsibility and humanity,” emphasized Ihor Terekhov.
