According to him, even before the full-scale invasion, the city had prepared everything necessary to launch its own electric vehicle production in collaboration with Swiss partners.

Today, Kharkiv already has a plan in place that specifies which routes should be retained and in which areas the number of lines should be increased. And although the hostilities have put the project on hold, the city’s commitment to developing eco-friendly transportation remains unchanged.

“I really want us to have trams of our own production—developed jointly with investors—of a completely different class, which will run on the upgraded infrastructure. Of course, there are many questions—both regarding the tracks and the traction substations. But I want to tell you: we won’t be removing anything; we’ll only be expanding,” the mayor emphasized.
