The delegation then visited the metro school set up at the “Universitet” metro station. The mayor showed the guests the classrooms and explained how the city is ensuring that children can attend school in person.

During the meeting, the parties focused on the development of the Kharkiv Metro, the restoration of critical infrastructure, preparations for the heating season, and the further decentralization of life support systems.

“Our priority is to continue modernizing trains, building an underground depot, and constructing new stations. Another important area is energy resilience, and we are already working on the full decentralization of critical infrastructure,” the mayor emphasized.

Summing up the visit, Katarina Maternová assured that the EU will continue to support Kharkiv in preparing for winter, developing safe education, and strengthening the city’s infrastructure.
